Ambulance and Fire Services
The Habersham County Emergency Services Department is a combination career and volunteer organization providing fire suppression, emergency medical, technical rescue, hazardous materials, water rescue, life safety education, fire prevention and arson investigation services. This department was created in 2018 when the county ambulance service was merged with the county fire department.
Emergency Services is staffed 24 hours a day, every day, all year long with trained firefighters, 12 Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), 36 paramedics and two Community Paramedicine specialists.
Emergency Services is licensed by the Georgia Department of Human Resources and provides primary fire and ambulance services to the 45,000 people who live here and the thousands who visit each year. ESD personnel provide service to residents of eight municipalities in the county and mutual aid service to surrounding counties. In addition to emergency coverage, Emergency Services provides coverage for many venues needing an ambulance present during special events.
